Multiple firms to prequalify for Oman's USD1b water projects


(MENAFN) Several international firms have announced their interest in cooperating in two Omani major water desalination projects worth USD1 billion in the Batinah coast, Oman Daily Observer reported.

The only Oman procurer of new power generation and water desalination capacity, Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP), set the 25th of March as the deadline for submitting qualifications.

Among the firms which submitted their bidding are GS Engineering & Construction, Sojitz Corporation, Itochu Corporation, Hyflux Ltd, Valoriza, Marubeni Corporation and Abengoa Water.

Two of the bidding companies will be granted a license to develop, finance, design, engineer, construct, own, operate and maintain one of two water-only schemes to be located at Sohar Industrial Port and Barka.
