2 conscripts injured in Giza shootout

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Two conscripts were injured Wednesday when two gunmen on a motorbike opened fire on guards of one of the African embassies in Giza, said the interior ministry's spokesman in a Wednesday statement.

The two conscripts were transferred to hospital.

State media reported that the shooting was in front of the Congolese embassy.

The gunmen were arrested following the incident and a pistol was found in their possession that was reported to have been stolen from the Qaliubyia Security Directorate following the events of 25 January Revolution in 2011, said the Ministry of Interior.

Security forces have been targeted since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. The highest level of insurgent activities was witnessed in the restive Sinai Peninsula, followed by Greater Cairo and other governorates.
