UAE- Azad Basith double tons light up UAQ cricket

Umm Al Quwain — Two standout performances from Saqib Azad and Abdul Basith were some of the highlights during the busy Umm Al Quwain cricketing schedule this season.

Both produced stellar double centuries putting themselves in contention for the best batsman awards hosted by the Umm Al Quwain Cricket Association under the supervision of the Emirates Cricket Board and played under the auspices of the Ajman Cricket Council and Domestic Cricket Development Committee.

Saqib Azad’s double ton was a brutal knock considering the number of balls he consumed. In just 75 deliveries he blasted an impeccable 248 not out studded with 28 hits to the fence and 21 over it. His frequent hits to the fence meant only 10 runs were scored in singles and twos.

His innings helped Liberty Automobiles register a massive 208-run victory over Desert Stallions in the 7th Umm Al Quwain T-20 League.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first Azad hogged the limelight from the start to finish smashing the bowlers all over the park mercilessly as Liberty Automobiles recorded a mammoth 328 for three in 20 overs.

Chasing an improbable target Desert Stallions were no match as they were bundled out for a meager 120.

Abdul Basith was also in full swing as he blasted an unbeaten 201 that helped his team Dubai Strikers defeat Syscom Warriors by 92 runs in the 2nd Total Solutions Building Material T-20 League.

Syscom Warriors choice to bowl first went horribly wrong when Abdul Basith tore apart their bowling attack.

His brilliant innings was studded with 22 fours and 15 sixes as Dubai Strikers achieved a superb 325 for four in 20 overs.

Bijay Raj (44 not out) and Sylvester Vijay Kumar (36) were the others who contributed.

In reply Syscom did put up a fight with Sanal Sadanandan (52) and Fibin Sagar (83 not out) keeping the fight going but with a big target to chase they were managed 233 for six in 20 overs.

Thanu Kirshnan claimed four wickets for Dubai Strikers.
