Nahyan Bin Mubarak to open eye conference in Dubai


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, is to open a medical conference on eye medicine and surgery in Dubai tomorrow.

The three-day conference at the Conrad Hotel will be attended by nearly 800 doctors and other medical experts, including 65 specialists from key eye medical centres worldwide.

Dr. Saleh Al Masaabi, the conference chairman and a consultant at Samaya Specialised Centre in Abu Dhabi, said that this year the conference will honour the first and longest serving Emirati eye specialist, Dr. Yehya Al Midwahi, for his achievements in the field of ophthalmology.

According to Al Masaabi, nearly 250 papers would be presented at the conference which will also include around 65 lectures on eye diseases and surgical developments. Four global medical associations will attend the meeting for the first time, he said, adding that it would also cover the latest laser eye treatment techniques.

He said that a medical exhibition will be held at the conference and 15 well known medical companies will participate.
