MoF and MoFA review GCC economic integration


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The Ministry of Finance, MoF, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MoFA, yesterday discussed the GCC joint economic action, and the role that the UAE plays to support and promote it.

Younis Haji Al Khoori, Under-Secretary of the MoF, led the Ministry's delegation to MoFA. The meeting was attended by Khaled Ali Al Bustani, Assistant Under-Secretary for International Financial Relations at MoF and Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Head of the GCC and Arab Countries. Also present were Mohammed Mir Abdullah Al Raisi, Under-Secretary of MoFA, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Hidan, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organisation Affairs, in addition to a number of MoFA ambassadors, heads of departments and employees.

During the meeting, five key topics were explored, including an overview of GCC joint economic action, GCC joint economic action as well as economic integration projects, implementation processes for these projects and results and achievements on a GCC level, in addition to the Ministry's role in supporting projects that promote economic integration and collaboration between GCC countries.

The meeting was held to raise awareness and spread knowledge about financial and economic integration across the gulf nations, and its positive impact on citizens, organisations and private sectors. It was also designed to highlight the UAE and MoF's role in implementing the unified economic agreement between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. MoF is also keen to involve its strategic partners in shaping future plans on GCC economic integration.

Commenting on the meeting, Younis Haji Al Khoori said, "The Ministry believes in the importance of close collaboration between all federal and local government entities to reinforce the UAE's leading position in the Gulf Common Market (GCM). MoFA is one of our key partners in this area and our strategic partnership has led to us jointly representing the UAE in the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council. This cooperation forges strong ties between MoF and MoFA, as both entities work hand in hand to raise the UAE's profile."
