Housemaid held for attempting to kill Saudi family


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 22: A Kuwaiti employee of the Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) and believed to be in his 20s died on the spot after his car overturned on a road in Kabad. Sources say after the Operations Room at KFSD received a report sent by firefighters to the site of the accident discovered the cause of the accident was slippery road caused by the rain. The other occupant of the car who escaped with serious injuries was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Farwaniya Hospital. The remains of the victim have been referred to Forensics.

Campaigns net ''wanted'': The Public Security Sector of the Ministry of Interior continues to crack down on violators of residence and labor laws people wanted by law criminals and reckless motorists. During one of the campaigns the Hawalli police have arrested two Kuwaitis. They were nabbed in Salmiya one of them for failing to pay KD 192 debt and the other KD 5000. Police have also arrested seven other Kuwaitis an Egyptian and a Jordanian in connection with financial frauds. All those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal measures. Meanwhile a Kuwaiti who had been sentenced in absentia to four years imprisonment has been arrested in Hawalli. Two other Kuwaitis who owed money to a company - KD 5000 and KD 6000 respectively have been arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal measures.

Complaint against husband: An unidentified Egyptian woman has filed a complaint with the Fintas Police Station accusing her husband of beating her stealing her cell phone KD 30 and her car keys. The woman who lives in Mahboula in her complaint to the police said the husband beat her for no reason and produced a medical report showing injuries on her body. A case has been filed with the Public Prosecution and an arrest warrant has been issued against the man.

''Poison'' in water tank: An unidentified housemaid has been arrested and referred for interrogation for attempting to kill a Saudi family reports Al-Shahed daily. According to security sources neighbors saw the maid of the Saudi family dropping some substance in the water tank on the roof of the building and took her picture. When the water was tested lab tests showed it contained poison.

Kuwaiti admits to theft: The Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested a Kuwaiti for committing 10 thefts reports Al-Rai daily. The arrest came after police intensified their efforts after receiving several complaints and managed to identify the location of the thief by tracing a call from a cell phone which he had stolen. Armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution police then raided his home in Mubarak Al-Kabir and arrested him. During interrogation the suspect who has a criminal past admitted to committing 10 crimes.

''Caught red-handed'': Police have arrested a man in uniform believed to be working for one of the sensitive departments in the government for frequenting suspicious apartments reports Al-Rai daily. The arrest came after he was caught red-handed leaving one of these apartments while still in uniform. He has been referred to the Sentences Enforcement Department because he was wanted by law to serve one week in prison.

2 referred to prosecution: An unidentified US citizen and his Ethiopian lover have been referred to the Public Prosecution on a charge of committing adultery reports Al-Rai daily. According to a complaint filed by the American''s Ethiopian wife she caught her husband red-handed having an affair with her compatriot friend. She added she came home unannounced and heard two people giggling and laughing inside the bedroom door when she opened the outside door. She closed the door and called police. After police arrived she opened the door for the security and caught the couple red-handed. In spite of pleas from the husband the wife insisted on filing a complaint against her husband and her friend.

''Snatcher'' detained: Police have detained a Kuwaiti youth for snatching the handbag of a Swedish woman containing KD 150 and her passport reports Al-Anba daily. The woman was in the parking lot of a commercial complex when the suspect snatched her bag and took to his heels. The woman cried for help and passersby caught him wrestled him to the ground and called police. A case has been registered at the Riqqa Police Station.
