Qatari Amir visits India to develop ties


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will be visiting India on Tuesday as part of his Asian tour which also includes Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Sheikh Tamim was invited to visit New Delhi by Indian President Shri Pranab Mukherjee to develop bilateral ties, said India's Ministry of External Affairs in a statement.

The two-day visit will include signing economic agreements between the two sides, and will also focus on Qatar's investment in the Narendra Modi government's "Make in India" program, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Indian companies are eager to take part in creating the infrastructure Qatar needs for hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Qatar is an important commercial partner of India in the Gulf region, said Spokesman of the Ministry. The rate of commerce between the two countries reached USD 16.72 billion in the fiscal year 2013-2014, he added.
