Global Businesswomen Form kicks off in Bahrain

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Global Businesswomen Forum commenced here on Monday under the slogan of "our bridges to the world", with the participation of a large number of businesswomen from all over the world.

The event was inaugurated by Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain's Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and wife of Bahrain's King.

Addressing the forum, which runs until March 26, Princess Sabeeka emphasized the importance of such key gatherings in extending bridges and communication, and opening vistas of cooperation between businesswomen and entrepreneurs across the globe.

Princess Sabeeka said that the gatherings also open the door for exchanging experiences and ideas, which will enhance the economies of countries to achieve sustainable development.

The Princess urged all participants to activate women's leading role in this field, which makes them an essential factor to contribute to enhancing the global economy by creating a perfect dialogue platform regarding how to benefit from opportunities and identify challenges facing women.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Arab Businesswomen Council (ABC) Sheikha Hessa Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah said that it is the first gathering of its kind in the Gulf region.

Sheikha Hessa stressed that the forum is a step to cement relations between Arab and Western women, adding that the council seeks to consolidate its relations with similar ones across the globe to open direct cooperation.

Although Arab women play effective roles in political, economic and social fields in their countries, these roles are still unknown to Western women, Sheikha Hessa noted.
