NPPSC awards Belgian firm QR239mn Hamad Port Project contract


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The New Port Project Steering Committee (NPPSC) has awarded Gulf Earth Moving, a Qatar-based subsidiary of the Belgian group Aertssen, a QR239mn contract, under which 3mn sq m of extra terrain will be created for the New Qatar Emiri Naval Base and the Hamad Port.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of HE the Minister of Transport, Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti and Princess Astrid of Belgium.
The contract was signed by Moyassar Jameel al-Qattamy, acting executive director, Hamad Port Project and Gorgeous Aertssen, CEO, Gulf Earth Moving Company. Under this, Gulf Earth Moving Company "will install a causeway, a coastal protection by means of armour rocks over a length of 1,350m and undertake the necessary soil improvements before filling the lagoon area with 9mn cu m of processed materials."
Al-Qattamy said, "We are pleased to sign with GEM not only for their global experience and reputation but for the good work they completed at New Port Project under the dredging, reclamation and breakwater construction contract."
