King patronizes celebration on Al Karama Battle 47th anniversary


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Sunday attended an Armed Forces celebration to mark the 47th anniversary of Al Karama Battle.

Upon arrival at the Martyr's Memorial in the Southern Shuna district in the Jordan Valley, the King was received by a number of Royal family members, the prime minister, Senate president, Royal Court Chief, Lower House speaker, president of the Judicial Council, His Majesty's Advisor for Military Affairs, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Director of His Majesty's office and the directors of the Public Security, Gendarmerie and Civil Defense departments as well as other senior military and civic officials.

His Majesty reviewed a guard of honor, laid a wreath at the monument and recited verses form the holy Quran.

The King also reviewed the names of martyrs inscribed on the memorial and formations and units that fought in the 1968 battle.

King Abdullah shook hands with number of military personnel, who had the privilege to participate in the Al Karama battle.
