Oman prequalifies nine firms for USD1b motorway project

(MENAFN) Oman pre-qualified nine international syndicates to bid for the USD1b worth motorway project in its Musandam governorate which looks across the strategic Straits of Hormuz in the Gulf, Emirates 24\7 reported.

Thirty two global firms tried to bid for the project which involves the building of the carriageway through mountains and wadis in Diba, Lima and Khasab in the governorate.

According to the ministry of transport and communication, the nine firms were chosen after some significant evaluation of their financial and technical resources by a joint team from the ministry.

The highway is one of the most expensive roads in the Gulf country given the harsh nature of that area. The project also involves the construction of the road as well as 17 tunnels and 18 bridges, according to reports.
