Labor to go after bogus companies


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 21: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Planning and Development Affairs Hend Al-Subaih disclosed that the government represented by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and Public Authority for Manpower has started taking steps against bogus companies and their personnel that took advantage of the law on granting subsidy to national workers reports Al-Jarida daily. She said the government is now preparing cases against those proven to have violated the law in order to reclaim the money these companies have collected illegally.

She pointed out the ministry does not allow anyone to squander public funds; hence it decided to carry out intensive campaigns to track down violators. On the other hand the minister affirmed the government is serious in its bid to implement the five year development plan indicating HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak has given instructions to realize the ambitions of Kuwaitis through this plan. She further hailed the supportive role of the National Assembly in the execution of the development plan confirming the government is ready to accept all parliamentary proposals aimed at improving the development plan and its projects to solve all pending cases.

On the other hand Al-Anba daily has quoted Director of Governmental Contracts Department at the Public Authority for Manpower Nasser Al- Suhail as saying that the number of governmental contracts reached 5200 out of which 580 have expired but there are still personnel registered under them. He revealed the total number of personnel registered under governmental contracts reached 330000 while the financial guarantee allotted for this purpose is estimated at KD82 million.

As for the procedures on transferring the residence permits of expatriate workers under governmental contracts he explained this is possible only if the transfer is under the same employer. He said the transfer to dependent visa necessitates approval of the current employer; whereas the domestic personnel transfer requires the approval of both parties or the termination for travel.

He clarified those who entered the country through a contract in the private sector and then transferred locally to a governmental contract are allowed to transfer again to the private sector or any other sector provided they spent three years with the last employer who should sanction the transfer.
