Saudi- Filipinos shocked over mugging of compatriot
(MENAFN- Arab News) Filipino expatriates in the Saudi capital have expressed shock and concern over the mugging of a Filipino community leader in a Riyadh neighborhood last week.
Arab News reported last week that Bhoy Macion had been beaten up and robbed of his money by five Arabic-speaking men.
Alex Bello a community leader who heads the Overseas Filipino Worker''s Congress said he and other Filipinos were surprised that Macion a martial arts expert had been beaten up. Macion who founded the martial arts group Black Python had just come from a supermarket along Dhabab Street when a red Honda car with five occupants forced him off the road. Black Python had previously been involved in the activities of the Philippine Embassy and the Filipino community.
The men took his wallet with SR675 in cash and identification cards and hit him in the face with a piece of iron. They also asked for his car key but he refused to give it to them. Using his martial arts skills he confronted the suspects who eventually fled in their car. The police said the car used by Macion''s assailants belonged to an Indian national who had earlier been carjacked.
