KCRS launches awareness campaign on children rights in Kuwait

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Kuwait Child's Rights Society (KCRS) launched Thursday an awareness campaign on children rights in Kuwait, aiming to boost children protection from abuse, negligence, and torture, and support their rights through establishing a child protection law in the country.

The abuse and assault that some children go through are the main reason behind launching this campaign, Dr. Hanan Razzuqi, Vice-Head of KCRS, said in a press conference, noting that her society was formed through the Kuwait Medical Association (KMA).

According to principles of medical ethics, protecting innocent childhood is inevitable for medical practitioners, Razzuqi said, adding that striving to establish a child protection law in Kuwait is also inevitable.

She also said that the Kuwaiti Parliament has approved of the law during its first deliberation session last week, expressing her hope for another approval in the second deliberation session next week.

Established in 2008, KCRS aims to promote the protection of children in Kuwait and to support the rights of children around the world.
It also monitors the application of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in the format that Kuwait has signed.
KRCS also collaborate with international organizations for the contribution to children's wellbeing.
