FIA Middle East and North Africa to kick off meet


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 4: Nasser Al Attiyah Vice President of the Federation of International Automobile FIA will arrive in Kuwait Thursday afternoon to attend the FIA Middle East and North Africa (MENA) meeting on Friday at the Crown Plaza Hotel. The meetings which will last up to the 8th of March 2015 will see the participation of more than 20 Countries representing FIA MENA clubs and Federations. Kuwait International Automobile Club KT headed by Emad Bukhamseen Chairman has made ??all the necessary preparations in order to have a Successful event which is considered the third of its kind where the first meeting was held in Qatar mid April 2014 while the second was in Jounieh Lebanon last September 2014.

Regarding the most important files to be discussed in the meeting Al Attiyah stated that he would like to shed light on the honorable coming of Jean Todt FIA- President which would give a special Importance to this meeting and Sheikh Ahmad Al Mansour al Sabah The Head of Public Authority for Youth and Sport General Manager in addition to the attendance of Representatives of more than 20 countries representing FIA MENA clubs and federations.

Regarding the Role of Kuwait in supporting motor sports in MENA Al Attiyah stated that Kuwait is Considered one of the most important and pioneer FIA Countries as it has a special culture able to disseminate on a large scale the concepts of motor sport among the youth as per the recently introduced additional safety rules and Regulations.

Al Attiyah also stated that Kuwait motorsport has a large number of fans and ''we hope to see more and more cooperation and coordination between FIA MENA and the Kuwaiti officials concerning motor sport activity.'' The plans Strategies and last updates of the sport will be discussed in the meeting. He Also appreciated the efforts exerted by all and is confirmed that ''we will Cooperate together to have more success in the field of motor sport in the MENA region which is considered the most important region after Europe in respect of the motor sport events Organized.''

Sheikh Mohammad Al Khaled head of circuits commission at Basel Al Sabah Club thanked the guests of Kuwait and wished them a good stay on the land of peace and friendship '' Also we wish to have a fruitful meeting with positive results related to motor sport'' said Khaled Al Sabah that this meeting is a positive indicator that Kuwait has a supportive role to Nasser Al Attiyah FIA Vice president to find a new philosophy of motor sport in MENA based on exchange of Arab and Foreign experiences.

''I would like to exploit also this opportunity to ensure that Kuwait''s Public Authority for Youth and Sport exerts great efforts to remove all obstacles technical / administrative that are encountered in the application of the regulatory rules and regulations related to motorsport.'' Kuwait will be one of the Supporting Countries in respect of this approach announced through teamwork and organizing more motorsport events all over Kuwaiti districts in order to revive the spirit of Kuwaiti motorsport. We fully trust the skills of Kuwaiti manpower which are absolutely able to manage this sport in an ideal way.

For his part Mr. Emad Bukhamseen Chairman- Kuwait International Automobile Club -KT thanked His Excellency Sheikh Salman Al Homoud Al Sabah Minister of Information & Minister of State for Youth Affairs Kuwait for his initiative to sponsor this meeting and for his continual support for the Kuwaiti youth in confirming the same time the meeting is taking place such a sponsorship is deemed a confirmation given by the Government of Kuwait that motorsport is one of the priorities of the state. ''We acknowledge and appreciate this approach and we promise to go on in the name of Kuwait.''

On the other side he welcomed the FIA President Jean Todt and the guests. Bukhamseen described this visit as ''historical'' he Also welcomed Nasser Al Attiyah FIA Vice president and the members of the federation Bukhamseen evaluated the role of Kuwait in promoting and disseminating motor sport in the region and the great care given to safety procedures followed in order to minimize the number of road accidents confirming that KT in cooperation with the concerned Kuwaiti governmental authorities is supporting the organization of events concerned with motorsport in Kuwait according to the rules and regulations internationally applied.

It''s worth saying that Jean Todt has been FIA President Since 2009. He is the person considered number one at The FIA fully responsible for the activities of motor sport all over the world. Besides he used to occupy many positions in the international organization he has worked for 15 years as Chief Executive Officer for Ferrari Formula 1 thru Which he managed to get the title of the world cup for 5 times due to his German champion Schumacher. Todt was a co-driver one thousand nine hundred sixty-six 1981 and Director of Peugeot Talbot Sport from 1982 to 1990 then Manager Peugeot Citroen from 1990 to 1993 after General Manager of that Scuderia Ferrari 1993-2001.

Todt was appointed as CEO of Ferrari in addition to his position as General Manager of the racing division 1993-2009 and a board member of Ferrari 2001-2009 then general Manager Ferrari 2004-2006. After that Special Advisor at Ferrari from 2008-2009. He was the president of Safety Aware Organization which cares about researches related to the-safety of cars ICM a founding member 2002 ''Institut du cerveau et de la Moelle Epiniere'' and vice president 2007 Which is caring for the scientific researches of brain spinal cord and research. He is a board member of directors of Edmond de Rotschild SA and the Groupe Lucien Barriere. He has got many medals and honorable titles from France Italy Ukraine Malaysia and San Marino.
