Jordanian panel exploring Oman investment avenues


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) With the objective of strengthening economic and trade relations with Oman a delegation of Jordanian businessmen visited the headquarters of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat on Tuesday. 

The delegation representing the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) comprised corporate officials from construction energy water consulting and engineering services telecommunications information technology banking and financial markets sectors.

The delegation was received by Eng Musallam al Shehri assistant chief executive officer of PEIE for operations and other senior officials. The visiting businessmen were briefed on the existing investment opportunities in the various industrial estates which fall under the umbrella of PEIE in the different governorates of the sultanate and the value added services provided by PEIE in collaboration with government and private bodies in Oman.

Eng Shehri highlighted the vision of PEIE which is to enhance the sultanate's position as a leading regional centre of manufacturing ICT innovation and entrepreneurship excellence and its mission in attracting industrial investments and providing continued support through regionally and globally competitive strategies good infrastructure value adding services and easy governmental processes.

On his part Eng Basim al Nassri director general of marketing and media explained the importance of the strategic location of the sultanate the prominent features of the industrial sector and the national economy.

The delegates were also introduced to Shumookh Investment and Services SAOC a closed shareholding company established in 2010 with 84.26 per cent owned by PEIE and Omani Pension Funds.

Being the investment arm of PEIE Shumookh endeavours to develop infrastructure projects and encourage investment in the industrial estates under PEIE.

The Jordanian delegation also toured Rusayl Industrial Estate which embraces a wide range of industries including chemicals batteries electrical and building materials fibre-optic cables foodstuff textiles garments stationery and paints. The delegates visited Oman Cables Industry which develops manufactures markets a totally integrated variety of electrical products.
