Kuwait- ''Eagle Resolve key regional int''l exercise''


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 15 (KUNA): Up to 5000 military men from 25 countries are taking part in the ''Eagle Resolve 2015'' that kicked off here on 8 March coordinator Brigadier Mohammad Abdullah Al-Kandari has said. It is one of the major exercises on the regional and international levels being carried out among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) armed forces the US Central Command and troops from friendly countries Al-Kandari added in a press statement on Sunday.

The exercise scenarios focus on untraditional threats and security challenges in multilateral operations he said. Kuwait is hosting the 13th version of the exercise with the participation of state sectors and institutions the Interior Ministry National Guard Information Ministry and Fire Service Directorate as well as other official bodies. He added that the concept of ''Eagle Resolve 2015'' running on phases through March is based on managing emergencies during military operations using all relevant national powers to handle such emergencies. The exercise coordinator stressed that ''Eagle Resolve 2015'' had no relation to events or the fight against terrorism in the region. Bahrain hosted the first Eagle Resolve in 2000.
