Former MP suggests govt open ''embassy'' for DAESH in Kuwait

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Feb 27: After a long break former MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei posted a very peculiar statement on his Twitter account in which he suggested the government open an embassy for DAESH in Kuwait because of the supposed presence of DAESH followers in the country. He said ''What''s wrong if Kuwait and other countries worldwide opened embassies for DAESH since they have opened embassies for Bashar Al-Assad''s regime? After all both have committed the crime of killing their people''. A number of Twitter users expressed anger and astonishment about such a statement while the supporters of Al-Tabtabaei preferred not to comment. Some of them commented about Al- Tabtabaei''s support to the armed groups in Syria. One among them asked why Al- Tabtabaei did not submit such a request to the Turkish government which has always received the diplomats of Bashar Al-Assad in its territories.

The user also stressed that people are now smart enough and can think well. Some others refused to acknowledge the connection between opening a Syrian embassy and opening one for DAESH insisting that such a suggestion is not logical and is baseless because the Syrian community in Kuwait requires official transactions. They added that Syrian embassy has existed in the Arab countries since 1971. Others held Al-Tabtabaei and his companions accountable for the damages in Syria and urged Ministry of Interior to investigate the post he uploaded especially since he alleged through it that DAESH members are present in Kuwait.

One of the Twitter users posted a funny response by saying ''I will not be surprised if Al-Tabtabaei will hold credential documents proving he is the ambassador of this alleged embassy because he is an expert on the armed groups in Syria and had earlier visited them more than once''. Reportedly Al-Tabtabaei''s post has taken first place in the list of most popular ''tweets'' among Kuwaiti Twitter users over the past couple of days.
