Eurozone's trade surplus at USD8.38b in January


(MENAFN) According to the statistical office of the EU (Eurostat), the eurozone's international trade in goods is estimated to log a surplus of USD8.38 billion in January, Xinhua reported.

The first estimate for euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world in January was USD156.9 billion, nearly stable compared with the previous month, Eurostat said.

Meanwhile, the eurozone's imports stood at USD148.5 billion, down 6 percent. As a result, the euro area recorded a surplus of USD204.2 billion in 2014, up from USD160.8 billion on-year.

By contrast, the 28-nation EU region recorded a USD11.2 billion deficit in trade in goods in January. However, this was an improvement from the USD15.14 billion deficit in January 2014.
