Since May 2014, the public has notified the Dubai Police of 3,926 traffic violations, according to Colonel Saif Mohair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic.

He said the public can play a big role in catching violators through the Dubai Police's innovative programme called 'We are all Police'.

The police have also received reports of traffic violations taking place from other emirates. In such cases, however, the Dubai Police cannot register the offence as the programme was designed to monitor the roads of only Dubai.

Col Al Mazroui said of the nearly 4,000 violation reports they receives, only 1,524 could be registered, as the rest were not in accordance to the programme's requirements.

He said the cameras of the Command and Control Room of the traffic police recorded 10,039 traffic violations, in addition to the 24,021 violations recorded by the Dubai Traffic Department officials.

He also revealed that the police received 310,049 emergency calls from May 2014 till January 2015.
