UAE- Tourist begs for money from CID officer, arrested

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) In a surprising incident, a 23-year-old Asian tourist was arrested after he begged for money from a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer at the department building's parking lot in Abu Dhabi.

According to Colonel Dr Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the CID, the beggar was unaware that he was trying his trick of pretending to be sick to a CID officer.

"When he realised that he was soliciting money from a CID officer, he displayed rare agility for someone who is using a device for urinary incontinence while trying to run away. He was not able to escape, however, and the CID officers detained him as soon as he approached an adjacent building."

During questioning, Dh250, which he had collected from other people, was found in his possession. To appeal to people's emotions, he would claim that he had to buy a medical device for urinary incontinence from pharmacies for Dh7 regularly, he said.
