PM, FAO Director General discuss cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour received on Tuesday UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) director general, Jose Graziano da Silva, and the accompanying delegation.

Ensour highlighted the advanced level of ties between the government and FAO since 35 years, pointing out that the current collaboration is being promoted since 2002 when the agriculture agency established an office in Amman.

He noted that two agreements were signed yesterday between the two sides to control transboundary animal diseases and food security information systems in countries negatively affected by the Syrian crisis.

The FAO director-general overviewed the organization's efforts and support extended to countries affected by the Syrian crisis. He expressed appreciation for the level of cooperation between the two sides, as well as Jordan's efforts to strengthen the presence of the organization in the Kingdom to work in the region.
