Japan's trade deficit down 47.3 percent in February


(MENAFN) The Japanese government said that the country's goods trade deficit reached USD3.49 billion last month, dropping 47.3 percent from a year earlier, Xinhua reported.

The balance in goods trade remained in the red for the 32nd consecutive month, marking the longest period since comparable data became available in January of 1979.

The country's exports surged 2.4 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, while imports dropped 3.6 percent, the Finance Ministry said in a preliminary report.
