Qatar- Al Rashid and Kazi win DGC Pairs Challenge
(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Hisham Al Rashid and partner Fazal Kazi won the recent Doha Golf Club (DGC) Pairs Challenge with an excellent score of nett 67 to win by one shot from Stephen Swan and Danny Waiter and Jacky Tan and Jeff Jernigan.
The event format was two members playing together and recording the lowest score. Low scores were needed on the day to win a prize and the top three teams won vouchers to spend at Doha Golf Club. The event consisted of two shotgun starts and a total of 94 players competed.
In second place, winning on countback were Stephen Swan and Danny Waiter Cullen with a nett score of 68.Third place went to Jacky Tan and Jeff Jernigan.
The event was also a qualifier for the Mens Doubles Matchplay with the top 31 teams qualifying for the knock out stages of the matchplay.
The matchplay event will be staged over the year and will result in one pair being crowned Doubles Matchplay champions for 2015. Teams with a nett score of 75 or better qualified for the Doubles Matchplay.
Meanwhile, Doha Golf Club member Jeff Glover won Flight A in the recent Pretect Monthly Mug with a steady score of 36 stableford points in extremely testing conditions.
With the strong wind making scoring tough, highlights of Jeffs round included gross birdies on holes 4, 12 and 17. Finishing runner up in Flight A was Ian Rippey with a score of 34 points.
Flight B was won by Soud Al Mohannadi with an excellent score of 41 points with the highlight being a gross birdie on hole 10. Garry Looker was runner up with 40 points.
Abdulla Waheed Al Abdulla won Flight C on countback from Yanis Cherif after both players scored 39 points. The Ladies Division was won by junior golfer Nada Mir with a total of 34 points.
