MANGUPURA BALI March 17 2015– The Trade and Industry Service of Denpasar Bali requires the business players in mini market to eliminate the alcoholic beverages stock on 19 March 2015 at the latest.

According to Head of Industry and Trade Service of Denpasar I Wayan Gatra the rule is applied so that the business players have times to prepare themselves before the Trade Ministry regulation is applied.

The Trade Minister Regulation (Permendag) No.6/M-DAG/PER/1/2015 arranges the control and supervision on the supply distribution and sales of alcoholic beverages.

The local government is also anticipating the distribution of alcoholic beverages prior to the celebration of “Nyepi” (the day of silence) on 21 March.

“Prior to the Nyepi the distribution of alcoholic beverages should be controlled so that there will be no problems incurred” he said Monday (3/16/2015).

At present the mini markets in Denpasar which sell alcoholic beverages (type A) may reach 295 stores. In this case he expects the society to participate on the ban in order to enforce the central government’s regulation.

Meanwhile Head of Processing Technical Guidance for Distribution Facilities of the Trade Ministry Irene Yasmine appreciates the decision made by the city government of Denpasar to advance the deadline for the ban of alcoholic beverages distribution and sales.

Based on the Minister Regulation the retailers of alcoholic beverages (mini markets and other retailers) should pull all alcoholic beverages (type A) three months since the regulation has been applied on 16 January 2015 or 16 April 2015 at the latest.

Meanwhile Badung regency gives mini markets ultimatum to not sell beverages with the alcohol content below 5% starting from 16 April based on the central government’s regulation. Read more..
