Saudi- Man seeks to marry jailed woman

(MENAFN- Arab News) A citizen in his fifties has asked a jailed woman for her hand in marriage because he believes that like others in her position she needs help once released.

Fahd Al-Juhani who is married to three women and has many children said that he has always been concerned about what happens to women who return to society after spending time in prison for criminal offenses according to a report in local publication recently.

''We should ask ourselves what happens to these women once they are released Where do they go if their families refuse to take them back Who will provide for them Will they repeat the same mistakes that led to their imprisonment'' said Al-Juhani who has worked for the government and private companies according to the report.

He said God Almighty accepts repentance and remorse but many people are reluctant to do this. He said human are prone to make mistakes. ''Why do we forget and ignore the mistakes that men make but not those of women''

''I''m always thinking of these women who are behind bars and their right to get married and establish families of their own.''

Al-Juhani said he has discussed the issue with many officials scholars and preachers who have given him their blessings. He has asked the Ministry of Social Affairs and the National Human Rights Commission to help him marry the woman.
