Saudi- Nurse fired for tying up patient
(MENAFN- Arab News) A head nurse in a mental health hospital in Madinah was relieved from her duty for tying up a mentally-disturbed female patient for 12 hours.
According to the initial report the head nurse was originally given instructions by the one of the doctors to ''tie up'' the patient for only one hour if her condition worsened to the point of reaching an ''enraged level'' Al-Madinah newspaper reported.
After her actions were reported to the Directorate of Health Affairs in Madinah the head nurse was referred to a committee to look into the circumstances of the incident and take necessary action.
After an exhaustive investigation by the hospital''s internal department the nurse was found to have flagrantly violated the doctor''s instructions by tying the patient for up to 12 hours.
According to the daily the woman had ordered the nurses to do so before the end of her shift the day before.
Ahmed Hafiz director of the mental health hospital told local media that the hospital management ensures that all medical measures are properly adopted for the safety of patients.
