5150 set for paperback release April 1

Duncan MacLeod's tale of youth and madness first in five part 'Psychotic Break' Series

Van Nuys Calif. – March 13 2015 – It was 1987 and far from her own challenges with mental illness Whitney Houston was on top of the world with 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody.' In San Francisco young gay Ethan Lloyd the hero of Duncan MacLeod's semi-autobiographical 5150 is becoming unglued. Eventually incarcerated and transferred to an asylum ('5150' in police code) Ethan's tale of madness and mental decay is later diagnosed as schizophreniform disorder a temporary case of schizophrenia.

5150 is the first of a five part series aimed at young adults coping with difficult mental illness and is currently available as a Kindle download. It will be released in paperback April 1 on Amazon's CreateSpace. The paperback features an introduction by Brenda Knight author of Women of the Beat Generation.

"I hope the book will prove to be a source of inspiration for patients their friends and their families - giving some hope that life can get better" says MacLeod.

Readers are more yanked than pulled into 5150's conglomeration of characters and locations in Ethan's world and will be hooked on the story by page two. MacLeod nails the intricate details of Ethan's life in San Francisco that push him to decide to ride the rails like a hobo. Losing touch with reality Ethan eventually finds a slim path back to mental stability. 5150 is a gut-wrenchingly honest and spot-on historical depiction of the hedonism and often desperate lunacy of the late 80s.

MacLeod is currently at work on 1/2 the second book in his series due out later this year.
