S. Korea's agri exports down 8 percent in February

(MENAFN) South Korea's exports of agriculture products declined 8 percent from a year earlier in February as shipments of both fresh foodstuff and processes goods fell, QNA reported.

Outbound shipments of farmed goods amounted to USD420.1 million last month, down from USD456.5 million a year earlier, the South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said.

The decline was mainly attributed to large falls in shipment to Japan and the US. As for Japan, the weak Japanese currency continued to erode the price competitiveness of South Korean products.

Exports to the U. slipped 7.8 percent on-year to USD43.1 million due to a labor strike at major western ports in the US that has delayed the unloading of South Korean products there, the ministry said.
