Qatar's Kahramaa grants USD4.66b water reservoir deals


(MENAFN) Kahramaa, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation, is set to start granting USD4.66b contracts for strategic mega reservoirs project and the accompanying pipelines with a total capacity of 2300 MIG, the Peninsula Qatar reported.

Kahrama's plan is to increase Qatar's strategic water storage facility and ensure water supply to all areas. The strategic project of the mega reservoirs is considered as the largest expansion of Qatar water storage ever.

In the first phase, it aims to increase the country's strategic storage of water till 2026. The projects consist of 24 reservoirs at a total capacity of 2300 Million Gallons.

Each reservoir will have a total capacity of about 100 MIG and is considered as the largest concrete reservoir in the world. The reservoirs will be located in five areas including Um Baraka, Um Salal, Rawdat Rashid, Abu Nakhla, and Al-Thumama.
