French Thales wins USD7b Qatar port deal


(MENAFN) Thales, a defense services firm, was granted a contract by Qatar to secure its new commercial USD7 billion port, Arabian Business reported.

According to Thales, the French firm is set to deliver and install an integrated solution for the protection of the infrastructure and ensure operations of the New Doha Port.

The port is set to comprise three container terminals with an eventual combined annual capacity in excess of six million containers per year.

"We are very pleased to be appointed to design and implement the security solution of the New Port," the vice-president of Secure Communications and Information Systems said.
