Dubai's RTA USD545m Canal project 40 percent complete


(MENAFN) RTA's USD545 million Dubai Canal Project is now 40 percent complete with work now progressing on phases two and three, Arabian Business reported.

The construction project is divided in three contracts. The first contract involves the construction of bridges across the Water Canal on the Sheikh Zayed Road.

The second contract focuses around the construction of bridges across the Water Canal on the Jumeirah and Al Wasl Roads.

The third contract encompasses the drilling of a 3.2km-long canal, landfilling works of the island, constructing a sea wall around the island to prepare the sand beach, and other projects.

"The Dubai Water Canal, a modern, unique, commercial and tourist destination project, will add further glamour to Dubai city," the chairman and executive director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said in a statement.
