Jordanian Min. lauds Kuwait's hosting of donors' conf. on Syria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Al Momani expressed his country's gratitude to Kuwait as it will host the third donors' conference for Syrian refugees slated for March 31. He told a number of Arab news agencies in Jordan that Kuwait's hosting of the three donors' conferences means that it realizes the critical humanitarian dimension of the Syrian crisis.

He lauded the Kuwaiti role under His Highness the Amir sheikh Sabah Al-Ahamd Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, stressing that the UN naming of His Highness the Amir as a Humanitarian Leader and Kuwait as a Humanitarian Center is a source of pride for all Arabs and Muslims.

He underlined the significance of such donors' conferences to alleviate the suffering of refugees and the burdens of the host counties, noting Jordan is hosting about 1.4 million refugees.

The minister voiced his gratitude to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states for their support to Amman.

Kuwait had hosted two donors' conferences for Syria in 2013 and 2014 and pledges reached USD 1.5 billion in the first and USD 2.4 billion in the second.
