Saudi beheads 3 jails rights group founder


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Saudi Arabia yesterday beheaded three people convicted of smuggling narcotics into the kingdom, taking to 43 the number of executions since the start of 2015, according to one tally.

Those executed were a Yemeni, a Saudi and a Syrian.

The Gulf Center for Human Rights said in a statement yesterday that a founding member of one of the few independent human rights groups in Saudi Arabia had been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Mohammed Al Bajadi was sentenced last Thursday by a court in Riyadh whose jurisdiction is related to "terrorism".

Bajadi is a founder of the Association for Civil and Political Rights.
