Nine children found at illegal nursery in Dubai

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Police have arrested an Asian couple for running a nursery illegally from their house. The couple was charged with neglect and abuse of children. The police found nine children - aged between two months and four years - in the apartment. The department also found that the couple also did not provide any kind of supervision or even the basic health and safety measures to the kids.

Brigadier Mohammed Al Murr, Director of General Department of Human Rights at the Dubai Police, warned parents to pay more attention to their children and not leave them in unlicensed nurseries in order to save money on fees.

Maj Shaheen Al Mazmi, director of the Child and Women Protection Department, said the department received information from reliable sources that an Asian woman living in Naif area was running an unlicensed nursery from her house, and that children were being exposed to abuse and neglect.

Al Mazmi said that at once the child and women protection department in coordination with the Criminal Investigation section placed the woman's house under surveillance for more than a month, after which the police raided the apartment and arrested the woman and her husband.

Al Mazmi said parents should not leave their kids in such illegal facilities as children are "precious" and this would endanger their health as anything could happen to a child at such places.

Al Murr said that the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation is strictly observing nurseries and monitoring the number of children being admitted in them adding that the cooperation of community will play big role in maintaining security. He urged the public to contact the Dubai Police if they observe any such negative activities that violate rights of people.
