Rain fails to stop cricket fans to celebrate


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) As the cricket fever gripped the residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad like other parts of the country as residents of different localities came out on roads and streets to celebrate the victory of Pakistan over South Africa on Saturday amid intermittent rain.

The cricket enthusiasts who had installed big screens in their respective areas and made special arrangements to watch the game danced to the beat the drums and resorted to aerial firing after Pakistan team clinched two important points in an important clash of Group B in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, played in Australia and New Zealand.

Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Chaudhry Liaquat told 'The News' they allowed public to install big screens to watch cricket matches. But they are advised not to install screens on such places where the rush could cause inconvenience for public.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Rawalpindi Shoib Khurram said that it was in their knowledge that people installed big screens on different points, but we have issued strict orders that these screens should be placed at some distance from the main roads to avoid traffic problems. If anybody violates the orders we would take strict action against them, he warned.

Nosheen Jamshed, a cricket lover said that we were watching match on big screen and cheered every time a South African wicket fell.

They appreciated the performance of Sarfraz Ahmed who exhibited his talent in a crucial match.

Jamshed Khan, a resident of Rawalpindi said Sarfraz Ahmed was phenomenal behind the wickets and with the bat as well.

Nawaz Ahmed resident of Islamabad said in this match we have seen a good team work and fighting instinct.
