In Sao Paulo, 11 shot dead in one neighborhood

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Eleven people were killed by gunfire in a six-hour span across one Sao Paulo neighborhood, police said Saturday, as they investigate possible links between the murders. The individuals were shot at four different sites overnight Thursday to Friday in the southern Jardim Sao Luiz neighborhood where five people were also injured, the Ministry of Public Security said.Investigators said five of the dead had been convicted of robbery and drug trafficking. Police hypothesized that the deaths may be linked to organized crime. Authorities, helped by a witness, were able to distribute an image of one of the suspects, officials said.
