(MENAFN- QNA) At least five people were killed in a shooting at a restaurant in the Malian capital Bamako, news reports said Saturday.

Three Westerners and two Malians were killed, and many others wounded in the attack which occurred just after midnight, according to Radio France Internationale.

A man threw several grenades in a district popular with foreigners in the center of the Malian capital, and then entered the restaurant, opening fire, the report said.

French President Francois Hollande condemned the "cowardly" attack and said one of the victims was "very likely" to have been a French national, according to French news agency (AFP).

Two suspects were arrested in a nearby street, RFI said.
