Palestinian Central Council Ends Security Coordination with Israel

(MENAFN- QNA) The Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) ended security coordination with Israel, according to a council statement.

After two days of deliberations in Ramallah the council said it made the decision because of Israel's failure to honour agreements the two sides have signed.

The Central Council, the second highest authority in the PLO, called the meeting to discuss future Palestinian strategy in light of the stalemate in the peace process.

The Central Council is "ending all forms of security coordination with the Israeli occupation authority in light of its failure to keep its commitments toward the agreements signed between the two sides," said the statement.

It also said that international law holds Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the Palestinian people in the occupied areas.
