Attempt to smuggle 201 kg of hashish foiled


(MENAFN- Arab News) Border Guards foiled separate attempts to smuggle hashish and weapons into the Kingdom orchestrated by infiltrators from Yemen at a hilly border village in Jazan.

Maj. Hassan Al-Gosaibi spokesman of the Saudi Border Guards said security teams observed several persons attempting to infiltrate the country on foot carrying heavy bags on their back at the Dair area.

The guards fired some warning shots to stop them but the men escaped on foot leaving behind their baggage which contained 201 kilograms of hashish he said.

In another operation Border Guards chased a suspicious car at a different border village. The driver of the car fled while the Guards seized 17 Kalashnikov assault rifles 17 magazines 42050 Kalashnikov bullets 8950 Belgian bullets and more than 20000 revolver bullets the official said.
