Qatar- Al Henzab :Terrorism Threatens Humanitarian Values and Principles


(MENAFN- QNA) Terrorism poses a threat to humanitarian values and principles, stressing that methods for countering it are not comply with international human rights standards which constitute a violation and an additional burden to the suffering caused by terrorism, said HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Henzab .
Delivering Qatar's speech at the 28th session of the Human Rights Council, Interactive dialogue Item 2: Annual report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights HE Al Henzab said: We share UN High Commissioner his view that combating terrorism is one of the great challenges that facing our world today. He stressed that the fight against terrorism has become an excuse for discrimination based on religion and ethnicity as well as a pretext for authoritarian regimes to suppress their own people. He said the worse, is that the right of peoples to resist occupation guaranteed under international conventions, named as a terrorism, one blessed by a number of countries that criminalize the victim and glorifying the executioner and justify his actions, claiming the right to defend himself against terrorism.
He noted that Israel's arrogance pushing it forward in implementing its plans , its colonial and discriminatory policies , particularly with regard to the Judaization of Jerusalem and to continue settlement activities in defiance of the international legitimacy, let alone halted engagement in serious negotiations to achieve peace based on terms of references agreed upon internationally.
HE Al Henzab called on the international community to set a timeframe for ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and to ensure that the Palestinian people have obtained all their legitimate rights and their right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and the accountability of those responsible for the violations and crimes against them.

HE Al Henzab described killing , extermination and destruction committed daily by the Syrian regime as worst humanitarian crises facing the world in the modern era and the most danger, its negative impacts stretch across the region, while saying the death toll reached more than 200,000 persons and million Syrian people become displaced persons and refugees. 
The Qatari official stressed that the Syrian people today live in a real tragedy, teetering between the failure of the international community in resolving the Syrian crisis and the exploitation of the Syrian regime for the shortfall in committing more crimes and violations and allow terrorist and extremist groups existing in Syria and the region, a matter which put the Syrian people in between tyrannical system pliers and its extremist groups. 
He strongly condemned the armed coup carried out by Houthi groups and their supporters against legitimate Yemeni government, which endengers the country by risks of sectarian and political separation and to commit further human rights violations, thus threatening Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrityand undermine the peaceful political process. 
HE Al Henzab welcomed resumption of political dialogue in Libya, urging all parties to immediate stoping hostilities and acts of violence and to engage seriously in negotiations, a matrter which enable them to surpass the current political , security crisis and to improve the overall situation in the country and contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights. 
He stressed that the State of Qatar, through its national Vision 2030, will continue to promote partnerships with regional and international organizations so as to assist and support all humanitarian and development efforts in the world in a way to commensurate with contemporary challenges and efforts aimed at protecting and enhancing human rights.
