Dilip Shanghvi is the richest Indian now


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Dilip Shanghvi, the founder and managing director of Sun Pharmaceuticals moved ahead of Mukesh Ambani to become the world's richest Indian with a net worth of $21.5 billion (Rs. 1.33 lakh crore at 1 dollar = 62 rupees). All this happened within two days of Mukesh Ambani being ranked as India's richest man for the eight consecutive year.



Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited is a multinational and one of India's leading pharmaceutical company that manufactures and sells pharmaceutical formulations and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) primarily in India and the United States.

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Thursday was trading 84.05 points or 0.29 per cent up as healthcare stocks gained.

Good buying was observed in healthcare, fast moving consumer goods and consumer durables sectors, while marginal selling pressure was seen in banking sector.

According to Forbes, Dilip Shanghvi has been ranked as the richest Indian, who is then followed by Mukesh Ambani and Azim Premji.

The change came about on Wednesday, when Mr. Shanghvi came up to the 37th position and Mukesh Ambani happened to slip to the 43rd .

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,436.77 points, was trading at 29,464.78 points (at 9.25 a.m.) in the early session, up 84.05 points or 0.29 per cent from the previous day's close at 29,380.73 points.
