Aura Energy (ASX:AEE) has started the latest round of aircore drilling at the Tiris Uranium Project in Mauritania to upgrade portions of the resource to Measured and Indicated status.

Drilling will also extend the resource on the Sadi deposit where mineralisation remains open to the south and test several strong radiometric targets that not been previously drilled.

A major part of the work will be directed towards the Hippolyte Deposit where it is anticipated that mining will commence.

This will reduce drill spacing from the current 100 metres by 200 metres to 50 metres by 50 metres to allow the resource to be categorised as Measured.

On Hippolyte Zones 2 and 3 the drill spacing will reduce to 50 metres by 100 metres while at Ferkik drill spacing on a portion of the Ferkik West Zone will reduce to 100 metres by 100 metres. This will classify the resources in these zones as indicated.

Drilling is planned at Sadi South where previous drilling indicated that mineralisation extends at least 1 kilometre to the south of the current resource

Drilling is being conducted by Australian contractor Wallis Drilling. It is expected that the drilling programme will be compete in 4 to 6 weeks.
