(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) There has been a spike in illegal immigrants into Germany, with 57,000 cases recorded in 2014, for a 75-per-cent increase on the previous year, according to German police Tuesday.
Meanwhile, there were 2.3 million checks for undocumented immigrants at the country's borders in 2014, which uncovered 30,000 attempted illegal entries into Germany, up from 17,000 in 2013, dpa quoted police as saying.
The vast majority of the illegal immigrants came from war-torn countries, with Syria accounting for 14,029 nationwide, Eritrea 7,945 and Afghanistan 3,756.
