Vietnam's trade deficit hits USD61b in 2 months


(MENAFN) According to Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the country logged a trade deficit of USD61 million by the end of February, Xinhua reported.

The figure marked a sharp decrease from a surplus of USD1.35 billion registered for the same period a year earlier. In January 2015 alone, the country suffered a deficit of USD361 million.

In the first two months of 2015, the country earned USD23 billion from exports, up 8.6 percent on-year, while it spent over USD23 billion on imports, up 16.3 percent on-year.

Among those, domestic sector contributed USD7 billion, increasing 0.7 percent over a year earlier, while that of foreign-invested sector hit USD16 billion, up 12.4 percent on-year.
