PMK stages protest over land bill across Tamil Nadu

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Strained relations between NDA and PMK came to the fore once again as PMK on Tuesday staged a protest across Tamil Nadu against the land acquisition bill brought by the Centre stating it would snatch the rights of farmers.

Scores of PMK workers, led by party founder S Ramadoss staged a protest in Chennai while party president G K Mani headed the protest in Vellore. Similar protests were held in other districts also.

Criticising the BJP government for the bill, Ramadoss said "we strongly oppose the bill. It will snatch the rights of the farmers".

"The bill just snatches the land from farmers and will force them to become as refugees in their own land", Ramadoss told reporters in Chennai.

PMK is the latest BJP ally to come out against the land acquisition bill. Shiv Sena, LJP and Akali Dal have already expressed their reservations.

Relations between PMK and BJP got strained after the former announced PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss as the Chief

Ministerial candidate for next assembly polls.
