JAKARTA March 3 2015— Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono asks Ministry of Finance to re-consider the timing to apply the value-added tax of toll road worth 10% of this year tariff.

Basuki said that he was going to meet the Minister of Finance to discuss about the imposition of 10% value-added tax for toll road tariff.

The toll road operator is going to increase the tariff this year in accordance to the Act No.38/2004 about Road and The Government RegulationNo.15/2005 about Toll Road which was then replaced with the Government regulation No.43/2013.

“We will discuss it first with the Ministry of Finance how can the toll road increase two times in a year” he said Monday (3/2/2015).

Basuki said that the imposition of 10% value-added tax on toll road tariff actually had been arranged in the previous policy because the toll road user was considered as taxpayer. However the imposition had been postponed based on the letter from Directorate general of Tax.

According to him The Ministry of Finance itself has submitted the letter about the imposition of 10% value-added tax on toll road this year. However it still can be further discussed to not be burdensome to people.

“The company probably will not be burdened but people will. Perhaps it will be discussed in the closed meeting with President” he said. Read more
