3 forge DM approval for pesticide control advert, court hears

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Three Egyptians allegedly ran an illegal pesticide control business by forging an approval from the Dubai Municipality for an advertisement, a Dubai court heard on Monday. The three defendants allegedly ran the business without acquiring a permit from the authorities concerned.

The three workers, including two aged 26 and one aged 37, allegedly copied an original advertisement by an approved company and falsified its content by replacing its name and other details.

They then gave the advertisement to a local newspaper to run it to promote their illegal business.

They were charged with forgery and using a forged document, and doing an illegal business without acquiring the required permit.

The case dates back to July 23 last year.

An Emirati Dubai Municipality officer said in a statement to the public prosecution that any company that wants to do business in pesticide control must obtain an approval from the civic body on the licence as a prerequisite. "Companies should also have an approval from the Dubai Municipality on any commercial advertisement aimed at promoting its business and services.

"On August 12 last year, I found out that a pesticide control company posted an advertisement. When I verified whether it got the necessary licence, I learnt that the municipality did not issue them any such permit for the business they were promoting or even an approval to post that advertisement."

The newspaper told the officer that the defendants gave them a permit they claimed was issued by the civic body.

A police officer said two of the defendants were arrested in a sting operation in the Al Qusais Industrial Area.

The equipment used in the illegal business was seized from the accused.
