'Spy' ordered to be moved out of solitary confinement

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A Gulf citizen accused of espionage requested the Federal Supreme Court on Monday to move him to a regular prison instead of the solitary confinement he is currently in.

"I do not know where I am," the defendant told the court.

Following the request, the accused was ordered to be moved to the precautionary jail as per the law of punitive institutions.

The defendant, identified as Hamad Al Hammadi, also told the court, presided by Chief Judge Falah Al Hajri, that security officials refused to allow him to contact his relatives to hire a lawyer for him despite the court allowing him to do so in an earlier session.

The court ordered the security authorities in charge to let the defendant contact his relatives. The court adjourned the case to March 30.

The public prosecution, meanwhile, said they contacted the Gulf embassy of the accused for notifying them about the other suspects at large, but got no reply. The prosecution requested a deadline to follow up on the notification updates.
