Qatar- Novel lift techniques to cut energy field losses


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Premature abandonment of mature energy fields that still contain significant oil and gas reserves can often be avoided through the application of novel technology and approaches in particular artificial lift techniques, said an industry expert here recently at an event organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Qatar Section.

Siegfried Muessig, Technology and Quality Manager at RAG, Vienna, Austria, in his presentation titled "Moving the Frontiers in Artificial Lift Technology in Mature Field Operations" provided a case study showing the process of combating the loss of reserves and valuable energy resources and gave a detailed insight of potential technical solutions and their commercial impact.

The SPE (Qatar), which is chaired by Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad Al Thani, Deputy Manager Director of Maersk Oil Qatar, held the latest in the series of Distinguished Lectures on March 1. The event was attended by scores of local oil and gas professionals and students.

The SPE is the largest individual member organisation serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. More than 124,000 members in 135 countries participate in 190 section and 295 university chapters.
